Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice sought on buying a property in Italy

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, I frequently see people posting on buying in France, but I'm hoping there might be s/h's with experience of doing so in Italy.

My 'step' daughter and partner are toying with buying a holiday home in northern Italy. They are currently looking in the piedmont region as it can be easily accessed from the uk, particularly by train, as well as having reasonable access to the mountains for skiing in winter and to beaches in summer.

They like the idea of being close to some life and facilities, ie in a small town, and would be looking for somewhere with at least 3 bedrooms so they have space for visitors. They are not averse to getting somewhere that needs work, and doing some of that themselves, but have been advised that tradespeople are currently difficult to get in the region.

They are wondering if anyone can recommend any good agents or fixers, and any good resources that would help with info on purchasing problems, ownership quirks, local taxes etc. They would also be interested to hear from anyone that has bought as a ltd. company rather than as a private individual and the pros and cons of doing so.

Any help or advice would be most welcome

cheers, nick

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@nickH, be careful about second home ownership tax rules and fluctuations.

@albob, thanks for that link, missed in in my search

Thanks also @GlasgowCyclops, they have heard of such issues, hence searching for as much advice and useful resources as possible. Does sound a potential can of worms
