@josephrance, what is the study for, what will you do with the data, and how will you manage the data? If this really is related to Cambridge I’d expect these questions to be preempted before a respondent can start the survey. You might want to check your department’s ethics policy.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This is just a short survey to test interest in our undergraduate project. We are not collecting any personal data.

It would have to be pretty accurate to gauge the differing weather conditions in adjacent valleys, of even different parts of the same valley, particularly for those of us who like to travel over a number of different areas in one day.
Possibility of localised winds closing lifts on one side of a pass, but perfect conditions on the other?
I'd be happy to provide info for an undergraduate project, but preferably without google recording anything.

I've looked at the questions and began to fill it in, but sorry, it's asking questions about which the answers are pretty obvious. Yes, I check the weather. In terms of weather apps, there are plenty already, some ski specific and others not-snowforecast.com; bergfex; meteobleu to name but a few...and the alternatives for how far in advance you check the weather suggest that a skier would only do it once. I'm sure I'm not the only one who checks at various points, so you need to redesign the question to "tick all that apply"...

Is this really Cambridge Uni?? Some strangely worded questions, with some obvious answers...

Done agree with @Perty that a check is not a one and done. Also ultimately accuracy has to be the thing and that has little to do with an App, but rather the data that the App is relying upon. If it was easy Meto France etc would have already done it. Some of the existing Apps are easy to use and have lots of information, unfortunately it does not make them accurate as we are all warned - the weather in the mountains can change quickly.
