Poster: A snowHead

Our flight back from GVA - LTN was cancelled on the day of departure on 03/04.
I did an online EC261 Compensation Claim via their website and have just had notification that I am due £220 per pax payable in next 7 days.
I only stumbled across this whilst looking for the process to claim back the additional costs of getting home I incurred (which I haven't heard back on yet) so thought I'd put a note on here in case other Snowheads that have been affected were also unaware they could raise a claim.

The airlines should be obliged to do this automatically - but no surprise that they seemingly have no desire to pay people what they are due...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've also made a claim for the much more expensive Ryan Air tickets that I scrambled to buy when EJ cancelled on me. I can't find a clear indication of whether I'm entitled to this, but I thought I'd give it a go. No reply yet.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've been stonewalled by them for my cancelled flight in December.
They came out with the " extraordinary circumstances " clause about " preventing the spread of covid" despite them and many other airlines continuing to fly into Geneva on the same dates.
They seem to simply look at the original decision and parrot it back automatically without any logic whatsoever.

I put a similar claim in for a cancelled BA flight and my expensive alternative flight, complained on the 23rd of February and still haven't heard back.

@BenW_86, same for me on 27th Feb. BA flights cancelled with a few hours' notice. Half the group have been paid out the compensation and half of us keep being sent holding responses or ignored completely!

They initially tried to fob me off with "your alternative flight landed 95 minutes after the original scheduled flight so no compensation", even though I'd booked and paid for the alternative myself as their alternative was 2 days later.

Regarding my expenses claim for re-booked inbound journey - just had an email saying "We are unable to process your claim due to a technical error and hence request that you submit a new claim".
Brilliant!
