Poster: A snowHead
|
Our first skiing trip since 2019 is coming up - 1st week of April to Meribel. I haven’t booked ski school for 9 year old - we usually book Oxygene in Meribel. I’m nervous about paying in advance for anything after so many cancellations in the last 2 years.
Is there likely to be space in the kids group lessons that week if we leave it last minute or book in resort? TIA

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Booking ahead, doesn't necessarily mean paying ahead.
As much as I offered to pay (a deposit), for my Ste Foy lessons, they really had no desire to take may money 'til I arrive.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think I’ve had to pay online when booking for Oxygene….definitely worth a try though.

Perhaps so. That isn't the school I am using.
If you are worried about it, find a school who don't want your cash up front.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Gattabianca, I very much doubt anything will scupper your trip but anyhow Oxygene have a lot of stuff covered in their T's and C's
However, looked to me like they were booked up first week of April. May be worth giving them a ring.

You'll need to Register first of course.

Thanks Layne - they do now look to be booked up which answers the question about waiting and booking in resort
I’ve emailed them anyway

I haven’t used them in Meribel but New Gen are good and still have some spaces it seems. I booked with them months ago down in St Martin and they had an option to pay an extra amount for a fully refundable guarantee.
I suspect that’s a busy week for English-speaking ski schools.

Hi @Skimum1, I did have a look at new gen. Their morning lessons are 9:00-13:30 so quite a bit longer than the other ski schools. Did that work out ok and did you still have time to ski together as a family?

It's quite a big risk to leave booking ski school till the last minute, in school holidays.

+1 especially as even half term had a lot of restrictions in place and was a challenge to get teens double jabbed in time, and Christmas had lots of places we weren't allowed to go to. There is a danger Easter may be busier than normal

I agree with this too!
The longer hours suit us better but it’s personal preference I guess.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I have to say, when everything closed down in March 2020 out ski school bookings (ESF St Gervais) refunded the money immediately, months before anything else we had booked in advance.
