Love this forum! A great help when planning our recent Feb half term trip to Dachstein West. Unfortunately we found the resort lacked suitable blue runs for my wife, who is quite nervous.
I have already booked next February’s flights to Salzburg, but am looking for an affordable ski resort within a 60-90 minutes drive. I need a resort with wide and easy green/blue runs.
Any resort suggestions please? Also interested in any reasonable accommodation (usually go Half Board as it suits a young family). Thanks in advance!

Can't really help with resorts - but would it help her to have some good private lessons? You could get some personal recommendations here, once you've settled on a resort.
I've not been to Alpbach for years and years...... but it did have beginner slopes, and is a very pretty village.. Someone who has been more recently could advise on what is now a bigger linked area.

And the advice around private lessons is spot on, a significant cost, but can transform the experience for a nervous beginner!

Great advice and more lessons is definitely the plan, but I’m looking for a resort with plenty of blues that she can practice on after her morning lessons. Somewhere with more that just nursery slopes.

Green pistes aren’t generally a thing in Austria. Tends to be beginner slopes dedicated to learning, and then blues. A shame your wife was nervous at Dachstein West - sorry to hear that. It’s my local resort and I’ve tended to regard some of the reds as more like some French blues! It was quite busy that week, which I’m sure didn’t help.
Were you based in Gosau? The Hornspitz piste into town I’d certainly consider red - can be challenging at times.

We set out from Russbach mostly and Gosau Hintertal once. She skied a few easy red sections, but freaks out on any steep sections that crop up. Ended up walking down these sections. In fairness to her, we skied to some trails that were marked blue on the map, but were actually signed posted as red!
I enjoyed Dachstein West, but we just needed more blues for her. Long and consistent with no surprises.

@AlwaysFalling1, maybe Zauchensee is an option (45 mins by car from SLZ)? Plenty of blue options with reds heading the same way as an alternative for anyone seeking something a bit more challenging.
I’m not sure I’d want to stay in Zauch, perhaps opting for Altenmarkt. The advantage being additional, easy access to Radstadt where there are also some nice wide blues. Some nice mountain huttes with sunny terraces 
Radstadt itself is also an option - I’d recommend Haus Susanne, run by a couple of snowHeads. Catered chalet style. https://austrian-adventures.com/

With nervous skiers I always recommend sticking with the slopes they've skied with the instructor. Gung ho family members are not good at judging when a slope they consider "easy" will present problems - often snow conditions, crowds or cambers rather than mathematical steepness. Also, on some days, when things are particularly crowded, or the weather particularly grotty, why not have the afternoon off after lessons?
Or if she's keen to improve, have all day lessons, which I believe are a thing in Austria.

Rauris - 2 mates and their families learned to ski there complete with nervous types. Compact "local" resort so relatively cheap. Plenty of gentle learner slopes , but also some reds and one black for those that want to do a bit more. handy for Salzburg.

@AlwaysFalling1, take a look at either Sankt Johann im Pongau (Salzburger Sportwelt), or Muhlbach (Hochkonig) in the Ski Amade region, which we can reach from Salzburg airport in 45 minutes in a hire car. https://www.skiamade.com/en/Live-information/Ski-Resort-Map/Ski-Resort-Map
If you prefer a larger village, try Wagrain but stick to the Grafenberg side - despite the red runs down the main lift, the blue slopes above are pretty good and you can travel all the way to Sankt Johann on blues.

I can see that Zauchensee has already been suggested, but actually I think Kleinarl might fit the bill. It's the same area as Zauchensee, so you can still ski the whole are but if you are based in Kleinarl there are a lot of lovely, easy blues. We went a couple of years ago with the family, including my mum who is a very nervous skier. She was able to ski all over the mountain and was happy with the blues. It's probably the only resort we've been to where she has been happy to ski so many different pistes. We've found that lots of resorts look like they have easy blues from the piste map, but when you get there they can still be a bit steep for a nervous skier. Kleinarl is very family friendly, so if you have children it could be a good option for you. We loved it, and also found the ski school there to be one of the best organised that we have used.
