As long as people are crying because Abramovich is going to sell Chelsea, and this is going to be so bad for Chelsea, I think it's perfectly fine if athletes are allowed to compete. Athletes has absolutely nothing to do with this, some multi billion dollars worth oligarch, actually has, and if someone wants to make difference, then freeze these guys assets... they will push to Putin in second when they will realize all their money is gone. Some athlete has no power to change or to influence things.

@primoz, certainly the IOC and many other sports federations dont feel the same. (Of course the IOC are lucky it happened after the winter Olympics as goodness knows what those cowboys would have done)
it would appear that even the IPC disagree with you and are to have an Extraordinary meeting to vote on kicking their federations out. But this meeting needs 6 months notice. So they are running scared of lawyers if they ban them now. The sit-on-hands IPC did nothing to change their constitution when they said they would 8 years ago when Russia first invaded so that such actions could be reacted to quickly and decisively and not end up in such an invidious position.
I commend to you the IPC Governing Board Meeting Outcomes Beijing 2022 video on youtube with the interview by the Ukrainian journalist who brought their attention to Yevhen Malyshev. Just another thing run by bureaucrats rather than leaders?

While some policy makers persist with the idea of ‘sacrifice for the mother country’ and start the conflict using that as a premise for cynically throwing young people into lethal conflict, others are dying to protect the rights and freedoms which use a very different sense of the value of lives and culture.
Someone still needs to emphasise the mad contradictory doctrine of ‘you are killing compatriots to save the nation’ - like the American statement in Vietnam ‘we had to destroy Lang Vei in order to save it’. Lethal absurdity with people as the victims.
