Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello,
I am due to travel to Austria on Friday Morning, flying out of Stanstead. I am doubled Jabbed and have had the booster.
I went to download my QR codes from the NHS App tonight. to my shock, I couldn't access the travel abroad selection, as they need to re-verify me at the new GP.
I have been told my the NHS Covid pass hotline... To go to my new GP and ask for a few codes to start the verification... Even with the codes it can take up to 7 days!
Looking at the various information on the travel situation... Please could anyone confirm that a PCR test would be enough to travel?
I hope my misfortune helps people who are thinking about changing their GP!
Many thanks
Joe

@JJP85, have you tried downloading via the website?
I had to do that for my 12yr old as too young to be able to get from app. Should work for adults

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Unfortunately not, I spoke with the COVID pass team on 119 - I need to provide the App with 3 codes from my new GP to start the process, which can take up to 7 days. I am heading down to my new GP this morning, to see if they even have the codes I need.
If I can't get the codes I will have to book a PCR for tomorrow, and then book a further test to fly to the UK and day 2 PCR. So I believe it's still possible to travel to Austria and back. But costly and more more complex.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I was able to access the travel QR codes in the app on Sunday... I Just never saved them down. So this has happened between Sunday and Tuesday!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Seems like you can! I might go for the PCR test as it gives me 72 hours.. I know Austria is relaxing the rules on Saturday but just in case.
The GP are signing me up today, so I should receive my codes for verification in the next few hours. Once I input them in the app I am unsure how long it takes for my QR codes to come back. I might have to buy all the tests as back-up, and hope I can get my QR codes before I travel on Friday morning.

You'll need to Register first of course.

UPDATE
My new GP came through big time. They fast tracked my application and after a hour, they provided me with all the Passcodes I needed. I entered them into the NHS APP and to my surprise, my Records were showing!
Big lesson learnt - Always pull your QR codes, in the lead up to the holiday. This forum was the reason I tired to pull them early... When I went to France last September, I just kept logging on to the NHS App.
Hopefully we won't need to travel like this for much longer!

Glad to hear your new GP was up to it, goodness knows mine wouldn’t have a clue and would be unlikely to make much of an effort to sort it knowing them.
And a good reminder to download the necessary as soon as you can with the one month validity on the pass, as sods law something happens to stop you just as you desperately need it.
