Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia and Zermatt - accepting cash?

I’m going to Cervinia in a few weeks. Does anyone know whether local businesses, E.g. ticket office, restaurants and shops, still accepts cash these days?

I usually get ski pass directly from the ticket office. However, I have noticed that on their website there is a message suggesting online booking this year. Does anyone know whether their office near the Cretaz area still open and whether they accept cash?

Finally, I’m planning to go over to Zermatt at some point. Does anyone know whether we need to fill in the passenger locator form to cross to the Swiss side for a day trip?

Just back from there. No problems with cash in mountain restaurants and shops (or cards).

Don't know about cash and the ticket office, I booked online which was easy and could pick up from a machine outside the main ticket office. Cretaz hut was open but only one window open most days - main ticket office is on the bottom level at the Plan Maison gondolas.

Thank you DidierCouch. Great to know that most business still accepts cash. Did you get a chance to go to Zermatt? Do you by any chance know if we need to fill in the passenger locator form for crossing the boarders this way?

Is there still a PLF to enter Switzerland? This appears to say not:

We only briefly entered Switzerland, to ski down to the start of the Ventina or to ski out over Theodulspass.

@twoodwar when we were there in January, you could buy in person from the ticket office near the Cretaz lifts. Alternatively our hotel reception was also able to sell them, useful if you have purchased the Cervinia area pass and which to upgrade for a day to Zermatt
