Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Buying ski passes in advance Laax

Hi

I see this resort has dynamic pricing which makes it cheaper to buy your passes in advance. However, today for example only a few of the lifts are open due to the bad weather, and they don’t give a refund for bad weather. Am I missing something or is it better to purchase on the day at a slightly higher price instead of risking the entire days v expensive pass if the weather goes bad?!

I guess it depends on how much you like to gamble, and what the per day cost difference is between buying early and buying on the day.

We went recently and bought in advance, but only by a few days and the cost difference wasn’t massive. But it was close enough in time for us to have a decent idea of the weather and we knew we’d be skiing every day.

They do seem to have a couple of areas that get shut with excess wind though - the glacier area never opened when we were there due to winds. Plenty of other stuff to ski though.

@Mistress Twerkle, you missed out. Although the runs back down the glacier aren't that exciting, the black running down the valley accessed from the right hand side (coming down) was the most fun of the whole resort.

Thanks for that input! We’re only going for two days so I think maybe I’ll spend £10-£15 more and not get the discount to book now in case everything gets closed again (as their daily passes are expensive).
