My buddy/customer/snowHead visited today from oop narf to buy a pair of Whitedots for his lad to which I was to mount an existing set of Pivot bindings that he had. But first I needed to change to heel bases for a pair with narrower brakes. So I pulled out a ski from my 'knackered' pile.
Him: "What'ya doing?". Me: "Screwing the heels to the ski so I can safely remove the dildo as these heels are the worlds best mouse trap and you should never try and close them whilst off the ski as". My sentence was then rudely cut short by a loud 'thunk' followed by him shouting "aaahhh yaaa baassstttaarrdd!!!!!
It then took the two of us thirty seconds to get the heel open and his thumb out - not helped by me as I thought I was going to wet laughing and him shouting obscenities at 112 decibels 
This was his thumb fifteen mins later before he headed off on a two hour drive home. Maybe he'll post a pic of what it looks like tomorrow.
So be careful with those pivot bindings folk.

It's the funniest thing that's happened in my shop since a few years ago when a guy came in who's QK screws were a bit tight in his binding bases so I'd emailed him and said to run a whisker larger drill through the holes in the bases to enlarge them a fraction but instead he'd decided to drill out all the threads in the inserts in the skis - and not just one of them, all sixteen of them

Been caught by one of those. Luckily it just hit my thumb and didn't trap it.
That thumb will be throbbing by now. Time hole in it (red hot paperclip was my GPs weapon of choice).

Is this related to shift finger?
The condition that happens when you smash your fingers after you've been using walk mode to keep the brakes out of the way whilst tuning, then release it when you're done without getting your fingers out the way?

Having also done this, you may well have a break in the bone at the end of your thumb. My right thumb is about 5mm longer than my left now. It hurt like  .
