@RobinS, I worked for a season many years ago and, yes, the richer/posher the clients, the meaner they were and the more liberties they took. It was very difficult for me to keep my temper with some of them. |
We had a party in our chalet (ski-in, ski-out, courchevel 1850) that was led/hosted by an investment banker.
He dislocated his shoulder and I did a fair amount of grubbing around tieing his shoe laces for him.
Not only did they not tip but they stiffed us on the honesty bar.
We counted up. There was a big difference from what had been logged in the book. We raised it gently. They all denied having the drinks. We let it drop. I found the empties hidden in their bedrooms when the left.
They literally stole from two chalet staff who were being paid Euro 50 per week.
Unbelievably scummy behaviour.

Might be skiing the same pistes but every run is different every time. |
Particularly true for someone with as poor a bump of direction as mine. I love getting to know a place well enough not to be forever in danger of getting lost, landing up in the wrong valley at the end of the day etc.

That’s hideous behaviour, I’ve no idea why people feel the need to do this! We are in/do trips with people who are in similar industries and a small minority are like it, but the vast majority are decent people who are courteous and respectful, and if anything like me, tip well!!

Having had a rather underwhelming week in Whistler (I think piste signage has probably been as bad as anywhere I've been, which is strange because I remembered it as being rather good ten years ago), have you got an underrated resort closer to Geneva as an option?
Still got two lots of easyJet flights there and will probably end up at Zermatt, Verbier, La Clusaz & Grand-Bornand or based out of Sallanches for my short trips, but always open to suggestions for places accessible via public transport or shuttle.

If your staying in sallanches the portes de evasion is good, combloux, les contamines, st gervais and megeve all have bus links to sallanches and big variety of skiing
