Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Mont Blanc

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

After missing the last two seasons I'm super keen on adventure - a week of touring plus a summit/descent of Mont Blanc with skiis (weather permitting) might go a long way to satisfy that hunger.

I know there are plenty of private guides I could find, but wondered if anyone had any experience with agencies such as Jagged Globe/High Mountain Guides that offer week+ packages, or could recommend alternative ski mont blanc packages?

Definitely looking for a week to regain my confidence (though will likely find another spring trip to warm up) so just looking for any recommendations.

Many thanks
George

Did a week in Cham with Rick Marchant (great guide) several years ago - ski-touring & peak bagging with the possibility of Mt Blanc at the end.

However staying overnight in Cham. town I never fully acclimatised, so realised our high point of the Aiguille d'Argentière (3,901m) was about it for me, as Mt.B is another 900m higher.

So if you do plan to do Mt.B I would suggest to make sure you have a few nights in huts at altitude

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mont Blanc is 1 or 2 per guide so almost private guide anyway. I would always recomend the servives of an individual guide unless the guides bureau/tour operator is based here. The only exeception to that I would consider is Icicle Mountaineering as they used to be based here. This isn't the sort of thing you trust to a package deal.
As @geoffers, says altitude is everything. A ski decent of Mont Blanc du Tacul and Grand Paradiso + a couple of nights at the Cosmiques refuge in the week before would be heading in the right direction.
