Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bourg st Maurice as a base?

Has anyone based themselves at Bourge St Maurice and travelled to various ski areas each day? Is it a good idea and what’s Bourge like compared to staying in an actual resort? Looking for a long weekend trip.

There is plenty of skiing in Les Arcs and La Plagne (linked), for a long weekend. Just take the funicular up to Arc 1600 from BSM, which is covered on the lift pass.

BSM should work well to stay in - just don't be too far from the Funicular, if walking.

BSM is a great place to stay. Short distance to Paradiski and that is more than enough for a weekend trip. Funi will take you up to Les Arcs 1600, or - as we did - alternating with the rental car to the lowest lift in La Plagne system to get easier access for a full day there. Weather and road conditions allowing, you may of course do side trips to Espace Killy (closest parking in 1550 La Brevieres). (Or to La Rosiere linked with La Thuile in Italy, if staying for more days.) BSM has lots of restaurants etc, you will certainly like it. A nice place indeed. These are mega resorts, many days are necessary to cover every aspect.

BSM is very practical - we totally overlooked it until the year we used it as a base for long weekends in the Tarentaise. Granted, we only skied in Les Arcs and La Plagne. No problems walking to the Funi, or parking there. Better than trying to park in Les Arcs1600... We even also drove to Peisey, and La Plagne Montchavin. We didn't try La Rosière, and I wouldn't use it for further - e.g.Tignes.

I've stayed in Bourg before, skied in Les Arcs and Val d'Isere. This is a good value, well-located property. https://www.hotel-basecamplodge.com/

@Jonesj, Everything @iainm, says - Base Camp is an ideal place to base yourself. bus to funicular from outside the garage (or a 6 - 7 min walk), bus to other buses- for the other resorts.
