Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Travel to France with single vaccinated 12 year old

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Sorry if this has been done to death but I am so confused now. We are travelling to France on the 13th Feb with my 12 Yr old who has had 1 vaccine and covid in the last 6 months. We are fully vaccinated. I know we need to do ltf 24 hrs previous to travel and I think he needs a certificate of recovery to get "IN" to France but once in resort does he have to do this 48 hours quarantine and 2xlft tests or 10 days self isolation or can he ski the day we arrive???? And do we need certificates of recovery for him or do the email confirmation of positive pcr count?? Friends have given such conflicting advice I am in knots - please help if you can Confused

To get in to France he adopts his parents vaccine status. You are fully vaccinated so he has the same testing and quarantine obligations as you.

When in France he will need a pass Sanitaire to do anything. That will require either daily testing, or persuading a pharmacy to take his single jab and recovery and convert them into a valid qr code. Some pharmacies will, some won’t, and there is very little clarity on why. But if you know where you are going the advice is to email the pharmacies in the area and ask.

Are you in England?

With a bit of luck you might be able to get digital (QR code) proof of recovery for your child before you go. Some reports it will be available from 4th Feb. You need to get your childs NHS profile added to you nhs login if you haven't already.

As above - I have now seen the above (about 4th feb) confirmed in a letter from an MP to a local constituent… fingers crossed they do indeed deliver as promised and good luck for anyone getting their child profile linked to theirs in the NHS app. Your GP surgery can do this for you - basically you have to sign to say they are unable to understand things themselves (incompetent) and that gets you access.

You think we will still need to have proxy access for them to download and use the app ?

@CluelessMum, I am in exactly the same position as you - I have done plenty of research into this. Apparently the NHS app with the required QR code will be available on the 4th February for 12 year olds - so then we will be sorted with no faff. If not email a local pharmacy to you in the alps. The pharmacies in St Gervais will issue a pass sanitaire/vaccine pass for 36 Euros to UK residents with the correct documentation. I have emailed them and they have confirmed this to me. I have told them I have proof of positive PCR test, vaccine records from GP and negative LFT results in January too. I will email this to them and collect the pass (if required) upon arrival. Hopefully this will not be required as the NHS app for 12 year olds should go live in early Feb - I hope this helps.

Anyone got any links or credible sources for this 4th Feb date for 12+ year-olds to be able to access the NHS App? (@JayDub, @susieq78, @dklemm, nothing personal but extensive trawling of Google, NHS and various News/Data sites has no mention of a specific date. "Early 2022" is all I can find in writing...)

You'll need to request to join the group, it's a letter from MP saying it will be available for 3rd. This is about the most official thing I have found. I'm not banking on this and already switching to Andorra, if I can get it it will just be a bonus and may switch to France.

@dklemm, cheers, I'll give the group a miss as don't really do FB. Not really an issue for me, applied for the kids' letters for 1/2 term already but would be nice if they can get the QR codes themselves on the App.

12 to 15-year-olds to prove jab status via NHS pass
The transport secretary says “for kids travelling to the UK”, under-18s will continue to be treated as eligible fully vaccinated passengers.

Grant Shapps says that means they "will not face any tests at the UK border".

He says from 3 February 12 to 15-year-olds in England will be able to prove their vaccination status via the digital NHS pass for international outbound travel.

Shapps says he hopes the move will help families plan holidays for the February half-term.

Very pleased to find this thread as I am in the exact same position as the original poster.

Whilst it is good news that the NHS App will become available for 12 to 15 year olds - I am not sure that it is going to help in my position. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the NHS will only show vaccination record - it does not act as a Covid recovery certificate. My son is single jabbed so is not "fully vaccinated" - we need a covid recovery certificate to get the Pass Sanitate.

So it looks like I will have to rely on the option of trying to persuade a French pharmacy to give us a valid QR code based on evidence (i.e. a GP letter) of a single jab and positive test in the last 6 months.

Mixed reports, the letter from PM posted of Facebook says it will include recovered status but no mention of in the news today.

So who knows Puzzled

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
Full statement from gov just published, including covid status

Children aged 12-15 in England will be able to prove their vaccination status or proof of prior infection via a digital NHS COVID Pass from 3 February for outbound travel, making it easier for children and families to travel to countries which require proof of vaccination or prior infection to gain entry, avoid isolation, or access venues or services.

It will also enable families to plan holidays for February half term with greater confidence, as parents can be reassured they will quickly be able to evidence their child’s vaccination status or proof of prior infection for outbound travel and meet the requirements of different countries more easily.
