I'm looking for a ski trip for myself (dad) & 14 yr old daughter, budget is limited but not so low as E Europe ( or am I being unkind?) dates are 19/20 feb for half term
Daughter is wanting privacy & I snore like a pig so separate rooms are needed ie this makes most hotels v expensive
ATM I have an option on a 1 bed apartment in Andorra but this means getting daughter from Whitby to Stansted though this is probably not much worse than getting to MAN
Key requirement is the opportunity for daughter to meet, socialise & ski with similar teenagers, in ski school and other times, she'll go mad if she has only me to ski with all week.

Sauze D'Oulx probably worth looking at as popular with Brits. Contact James @ Sauze Online and he'd be able to help you with best ski school etc for her to hook up with others her age. Another option if you can hold your nerve is a last minute deal to fill up space in a family chalet or hotel, that way you might well find yourselves with other families for you both to hang out with.

@dobby, We've been to La Thuile a few times and love it, however never found that many other teenagers in our ski school classes - but we have been in Scottish school hols, so might be more on different dates.

Most European 14 year olds will have a reasonable grasp of English. Especially the Dutch and Scandis who also travel a lot to the alps but increasingly across the board. And it might be more interesting to meet a diverse group of people anyway. I would not over think it, but one test would be to find ski schools that will have english speaking teenager groups that week. If they do that will be a good indication that the demand is there.

@trmacc, good point. My kids stayed with me when we went to La Thuile, so I haven't got much insight into that.

@zikomo, agree but do your homework on that. ESF in particular are bad for telling you there are going to be lots of English speakers in the class (with English speaking Instructors) and that turning out not to be true!

Austria? It's a bit similar to Italy and there were loads of British teens in ski school when I went to Saalbach over New Year a while ago.

Looking like Andorra is out, Ruth has only had one jab & had covid at the end of November so can't have 2nd till end Feb. Am I right in thinking this leaves Italy & Austria open?

@tangowaggon, Austria has just announced taking the UK off the naughty step, rules for teenagers are beyond me but think would be OK (there is something called a ninja pass for them). Lots of empty hotels & apartments at the moment so should be lots of cheap deals going (many German families effectively barred from Austria due to German rules).

Crystal are reverting to travelling via TLS so your daughter is ok for Andorra. Soldeu has a well renowned ski school with lots of native English speaking instructors

@tangowaggon, is there any chance that your daughter has a friend who would like to go with you (and parents who can afford to pay their share)? My kids' memories of early ski holidays are full of the fun they had with their cousins.

Her BF at school is a very good skier but her family has a tad more brass than me & they're going to Canada

Getting from Whitby to most transport links aren't great, unless someone can run her over the moors to Malton.
I would second Sauze / Sestriere / Milky way / via Latte as decent value. your ££ issue is going to be separate room restriction. I'd buy her some ear plugs and tell her to get on with it.
My last pre covid trip was a dads and 16 yr old daughters trip to Aosta valley (also worth a look, hire a car do a few resorts in the week, although DIY less appealling in covid times ) - did that DIY with Air B&B but I shared a room with her school mates Dad who I had only briefly met before, but all was fine as we were both pretty chilled characters.
