Poster: A snowHead

I was just wondering how you generally get from the airport to the main train station and then if there are any reductions for UK student railcards etc or a reduction on any part of the journey with a zillertal ski pass?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I think there is both a bus and a train from the airport to the main Innsbruck train station. Then a train the Jenbach where you change onto the valley railway. I recall the valley train was free when you have a lift pass. Allowing you to also visit the other ski areas in the valley.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@ollski2.0, there's a frequent bus service (every 15 minutes I think) that goes from Innsbruck airport to Innsbruck main train station, look for bus line F.
I don't know about reductions for UK student railcards, sorry. If you already have a Zillertal ski pass valid for your arrival day (I don't know if you can buy them in advance online?) then I think it covers you for the Zillertalbahn leg of the journey (possibly not if you're not in ski gear and obviously skiing) but I've only ever bought a Zillertal ski pass on the next day after arrival. That covers you for going skiing via the train (as well as skibusses) along the entire length of the valley.

Thanks, so can we just buy a ticket to jenbach on the train and then buy a zillertal pass there?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Zillertalbahn is free with ski pass but needs to be in date, otherwise it's about 9 euros full price from Jenbach to Mayrhofen, can pay on the train.
From Innsbruck Hbf to Jenbach the price is similar, you can buy e-tickets from thetraunline.eu very easy, it's cheaper if you are 26 or under I think.
Bus from airport to Hbf, very easy and just a few euros I think.

All good advice here the bus from the airport to the station was €2.50 and it's door to door service with Bus Stop F right outside the airport's exit doors.
The change in Jenbach was perfectly timed and the Zillertal train will probably be on platform waiting for you.

Train tickets are available from https://www.oebb.at/ or the OBB Scotty app. Not sure if there are a student prices, but have a look. I *think* you can also buy a bus ticket on this app, but if not get the VVT tickets app instead and buy a ticket through from the airport as it may be cheaper than buying separates. If you’re not getting any advance discount (depends on the ticket and time of day), wait until you have landed to purchase, so you know which bus/train you’ll be on, in case of delay.
