Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon Replacement Visor

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I bought a Salomon Mirage S ski helmet last year & used it for the first time over Christmas- no idea what happened but I’ve managed to scratch the visor right in my line of vision. I’ve contacted Salomon & they’re looking for £130 for the replacement.
Does anyone have any suggestions for repairs (unlikely?) or alternatives for replacement. I’d rather replace the visor than the whole thing but that seems extortionate to me.

You can get the whole helmet for 118 EURO at Ekosport.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Having looked at replacement Visors from Bolle, which seem to be around £45 (£80 for photochromic), with other brands going up to about £70...I think Salomon are milking the situation.

A cursory look didn't bring up spares for Salomon, so I suspect your choices are

- Bite the bullet
- Go for something else (like Bolle or Cebe), where replacements are better value and more readily available.

to be fair, the Salomon version is more like an integrated goggle system than the more basic visor on many helmets, but I do agree it's pricy.

....and a decent pair of Goggles could cost you that (and more).

A Salomon dealer can order one in for you and will be cheaper than buying direct from their website which is a rip-off as they can't be seen as in competition with their retailers. I just checked on the Amer B2B/dealer site and it looks like they currently only have the T.Orange low light lens in stock and with a fair margin I'd sell them at £99 + postage which includes Salomons £13 small order surcharge.
