Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

M6 Mantra’s - anyone tried them?

The reviews look very encouraging - has anyone had the chance to ski a pair of these? I am considering replacing my Solomon Q98’s. Not sure how they compare but the Mantra’s look very good as an all mountain option.

I tested them for two days (about 75% on piste) before Christmas and really liked them. Nearly as fast as my M5 Mantras, but a bit of tip shake at higher speeds (the only slight downside that I found). Overall, they gripped fantastically on everything (no deep power or sheet ice encountered), including some harder snow where the M5's scrabbled more for grip (I had my M5's set to the same edge tune by the ski shop providing the demo skis to try to provide a fairer comparison).

Having returned to the UK I watched a few YouTube reviews which recommended trying the 177 M6 if you already ski the 184 M5 - so I will compare the shorter ski when we ski again.

I suggest trying a demo pair or two - I definitely had a smile on my face for two days skiing these!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks! That’s a good back to back test. Did you test any others?

Did you find the 3D side cut took some getting used to?

Thanks!

I'm a Mantra fan and I didn't try any others (I'm very happy with my 2 season old M5's at the moment which succeeded my Mk 3 Mantras). I've always liked stiffer skis so I'm also going to have a play on some RaceTiger GS skis for a couple of days if there isn't much fresh snow around - but I'm trying to stick with one pair of skis rather than building a collection!

The 3D side cut was not noticeable apart from providing fantastic grip in everything that I threw at them - I actually found that I consistently skied the M6 faster than the M5 because of the very predictable grip. My M5's can throw you into the back seat if you lose concentration for a second, but I didn't encounter that at all with the M6's.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
