Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski base repair

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

Is this something any ski shop can repair? For example should I wait and get Il professore in Alleghe on the PreBB to look at it?

They are Heads with the KERS system. Is there a copper electrical connection that runs through the back end of ski? Looks like this may have been ripped out too. Looks like some copper?

My skis and my son was using them and found a rock on the PiPAU Puzzled

Thanks

It’s a straight forward repair - a bit of metal grip and Ptex should be fine

I do have to wonder if you had one ski where the KERS system stopped working how many skiers would notice the difference between the two skis? I always assumed it was 99% marketing BS anyway.

@Tubaski, I'm certain I couldn't notice the difference.
There again I didn't notice when the trails of my first pair of head titans delaminated until I actually liked at them....

@cryptic_elf, maybe give @spyderjon a call at The Piste Office. He'll be able to advise on what you need to buy and hopefully how to do it.

There's no damage to the existing edge so a properly done repair won't require any 'special' protection.

My experience is that if the repair area is large The ptex can “come out.”. When its up against the edging ...might save you having it repaired again

@yorkshirelad,
If you just try and fill it with ptex then it'll probably fall out, but metalgrip, or an epoxy-ed in patch (looks a bit small for that in this case) should stay there.

@cryptic_elf, as has been said a layer of metalgrip, topped off with Ptex will sort it, you will need to weld the grip to the base, it’s not like a ptex candle.

I’ll be going back to my county of my birth for the first time in nearly 20 years!

The Sugarhut is 3 miles from where I was born. No Towie then, it was The White Hart when I was a lad!

Where did I put those white stilettos and miniskirt? Now that’s showing my age.

Shout out to radar. He serviced my new skis and the edges were so sharp I could fully commit to carving on ice, and they held so well! I've got a new pair of skis coming and will be sending his way for first use prep for sure
