From discussion in this thread it seems that most of the rapid PCR test services are not approved for the UK's Day-2 Arrival requirement, but that the HALO Test Service at Heathrow (which uses a different technology to the usual rapid PCR test) is approved for Day-2. I don't think that have any other test centres which offer this.

I thought the test had to be taken on day 2 (day you land is day 0), not within 2 days? |
On or before Day-2 for passengers arriving in England.

DAM Health doesn't offer a rapid PCR service.

no, @Mr.Egg, it can be taken up to 2 days, so technically you could take it as soon as you arrive/land (if possible), and as soon as the -ve result is available you are free to go!!!
I would take it as soon as i arrive back at heathrow in a couple of weeks time, but all the test centres around LHR seem to close at about 9PM, i arrive at 8:30, so no chance of making any of them.
you would have thought they would have increased their opening hours to make a few more quid!!!
I can get a test the following morning at a walk in centre a couple of miles from me, and they can get the result back later that evening (allegedly!!!!!)

I collect Halo PCR tests from people's home addresses and take them to Imperial College lab in West London on a daily basis.
You can preorder your Halo test kit before you go away, swab yourself when you return (land) and ask Halo to arrange a courier to collect from your home (or anywhere else).

Haven't seen anything much quicker than this down here :

They seem to have a test centre at Cabot Circus Shopping Centre in Bristol. That must be en-route from Cardiff to Dorset? It's at the end of the M32 as you head into Brizzol. £69 for a Day 2 test with results by 10pm the following day. Assumung your flight lands early enough that you can get to them before they close, then you should only need to isolate for the following day (till the test result arrives)

Same question, different location:
Anyone know of in-person PCR test centre convenient to Eurotunnel Arrivals near Folkestone? It would be convenient to get an in-person PCR test when we arrive by Eurotunnel (around 6pm) in order to get the test result the following day.

You know it makes sense.

@boredsurfin, thanks, had seen that but by the time I get there we’ll have missed the 12pm cut off for 24 hr results. So might as well post one from Cardiff!

We've decided on https://www.expresstest.co.uk/book-a-test/?activeFilter=2
This time they have a test Centre at Bluewater shopping centre, to the south of the Dartford bridge/tunnel. They're open till 10PM, so assuming your chunnel lands before about 8PM you should easily be able to make it before they close, and then have the results by 10pm the following day.

@Judwin, many thanks. I'll keep that one in mind, but it's a bit of a diversion as I live the opposite side of London so don't drive past Bluewater under normal circumstance. Something closer to the Eurotunnel terminal would be a bit more convenient.

@rob@rar, there seems to be a Randox Health Covid-19 Test Dropbox, at the m25 clacket lane service centres, along with the HGV testing site.
i haven't a scooby doo what it entails, but maybe something to look into
