Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone's been to Cauterets? If so what did you think? I'm going to give learn to board this year, so a small resort is probably best. Does any know if the place has snowmaking? This is important as I'm probably going the week before christmas.

Do not know about the resort but there are several other Snowheads threads that mention Cauterets - do a search - and the "no going back" TV series.

I have not been but was speaking to someone at the weekend who went last winter as beginners with two sons who had boarded a couple of time before and they had been very impressed with it for there level. ( They had also booked to go and stay with the couple featured in "no Going Back" at their summer place)

The resort looked really really nice on the channel 4 show. Hardly any brits there at all as there are no package tours for there from the UK.

Nearest airport i think is Biarritz (Ryaniar flights) and the website for the couple who was on Channel 4 is http://www.frenchfusion.com/

I went there years ago. We stayed in Cauterets itself and had to get the big cablecar up the hill to the ski area each day. Being naive students at the time, we went at Easter and queues for the big lift at the beginning and end of the day were massive. But it was very nice indeed - proper French town, mainly locals and French families on holiday.
