Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Waxing after last years break?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all

I tuned my skis in early 2020 and then obviously didn't get to go last year. I'm wondering if they will have dried out now and need waxing again? I'm thinking no harm in doing it anyway?

Thanks

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I would say there is no harm in doing it, I do all my skis every year at the beginning of the season when taking them out of storage. Gives you a chance to give them a look over and make sure there is nothing wrong with them too!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I leave the wax on and don't scrape and polish during the Summer.

However, if I had scraped and polished I don't think I would wax again unless there were visual indications that they'd dried out.

Take a look at them and see if they are still all uniform black and slippy. If they are you don't need to wax them...but mine are like that and will still be getting another waxing as it's just part of the ski holiday excitement build-up Smile

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

^ this. I'm pretty generous with the wax too and try to get a good smudge down the edges to give a little corrosion resistance too.

Thanks for your responses, I thought I’d left a storage coat on but when I got them out that didn’t look the case. I’ll give them a once over, to try out the vises I have on order if nothing else!
