Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kids Ski wear shortage?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We're hopefully off to Val D'isere in feb this year and my 11 year old son has grown out of last year's ski jacket and trousers.

I thought there would be deals available on kids skiwear online, based on the fact that last season didn't happen. But more concernedly, i can't find much kids ski wear available online at all in his size, even at full price.

Even Snow and Rock and Ellis Brigham have very little available in a boys age 12 size.

Am i just too early in the season and sellers haven't launched this year's kit yet or is there going to be a ski wear shortage this season?

S&R seldom do have kids stuff outside their largest stores IME. Better off doing the SportPursuit route. Got our lad a Trollkids jacket from there and its very good.
Don't know how big your lad is, but Westbeach is also got a substantial sale on last years kit online too.

Believe Aldi and Lidl will have their gear in a week or two... check online

@lower, I think there's probably just delays in the supply chain, so everything will be a few weeks later. Aldi were advertising their ski gear to go on sale online from the 31st October, but this has now been taken off and replaced by a 'delayed' banner. It's coming, but just a bit later than normal!

I've been looking on line and, as i'm not sure how the kits going to fit, may need to return some stuff so was looking at UK suppliers only to avoid the duty complications buying from the EU.

Edit: same limited size availability on the sportspursuits site.

I've just bought a few Trollkids items on Sportpursuit. You do need to check size availability in each item, but there are some great bargains to be had. And Sportpursuit are v good about returns.

Decathlon +2, has plenty of kids stuff online and you can collect in store and return instantly if you don't like it.

That said I do agree lots of the Euro retailers seem to have scaled down the supply etc. And some EU sites I used before without issue I am no longer confident I won't receive a VAT bill.

Captains Cabin have some in their online shop.

https://www.theski-shop.co.uk/clothing/ski-jackets/kids

They are a family run company. If anyone reading this lives in the South East their shop in Sevenoaks is worth a visit. We have bought skis, boots, helmets and ski wear and had very good service.

Have a look on Ebay - I've got some great bargains on there - good for when they are only going to be worn for a week or so before they are grown out of

Worthwhile promoting a good long term ski business. They had a satellite store during ski season in Croydon in the past and always helpful with decent stock. Remember walking through Croydon high street with a new pair of salamon 1080 skis on my shoulder after an impulse buy Very Happy

Ski Bartlett https://www.skibartlett.com/ another long term family run genuine ski business if you're nearer them too.

Both worth the trip if looking for good ski equipment.

Several age 12 ski jackets on the tkmaxx website at the moment - dare 2b and CMP.
Helly hansen have a good selection and delivery is quick at the moment - got merino base layers, gloves, salopettes and fleeces for our boys.

Having just been out to Decathlon....yup - there does appear to be a shortage. Would say it was much less than half of the normal stock levels. No doubt probably stuck in containers somewhere but also suspect they have reduced their orders to make sure they don't get caught out with loads of stick IF it all goes wrong this year

I seem to remember that finding any clothing for boys aged 12-14 was really hard, not just skigear, because kids ranges only went up to age 12, and Small man's was always too big.

Seems like decathlon are moving to smaller shops with more sales being online. Plenty of children's gear in stock online https://www.decathlon.co.uk/browse/c0-kids/c1-clothing/c3-ski-trousers/_/N-1onfzdb

At the (super!) spendy end it looks like Kjus are running down their kids' ski lines too. It seems they were acquired by a golf specialist in 2019. Shame as they did good sales sometimes!

Looks like it's slowly starting to come through - although it's not officially listed in the specialbuys section so i suspect (and hope!) that the main batch is still due to come through. About half the lines there were available about a month ago (just hidden on the site, and only found through a google search) so I suspect much of it is old stock. I've a list of 8 basic items I'm hoping to get and none are listed yet, so I'm severely hoping that there's much more to come!

Ah thanks… luckily most of the unused gear from last year still fits - thanks to the Helly Hansen add an inch seam!
My 12 year old boy seems to grow taller every day so might be a different story come December.
