Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel Question

Meribel question: Can you walk from the top of the Olympe Gondola to the base of the Saulire Express gondola? And how far is it?

(Thinking of staying in Brides-Les-Bains and renting a ski locker at Saulire).

Thanks.

Yes and about 500m.

Stayed in Brides at NY 2019/20. You can also ski/pole it so unless your accommodation is a long way to walk to the lift I'd take skis down. There can be a fair queue for the lift coming down at the end of the day but the lifties do make sure every bubble is full when it's like that (...how c19 effects that???) It does make getting on at the mid station difficult. Had hardly any queue going up in the morning.

You can but it's not ideal. You should take the pedestrian way out from the top of the gondola through the Parc Olympique. If you walk the same way that the skiers are going, you'll just get in everyone's way as it's quite narrow once the snow builds up.

You're better off renting a locker at the base of the Olympe in Brides - it's a much easier way of getting out in the morning and you can ski later because you don't have to waste time changing before the last lift home from Meribel.

Great - thanks for the info. Will likely go for a locker at the base of Olympe. We have a mixed group including old and young who wouldn't enjoy a tramp up the hill in ski boots every day.

@Jas, you can also rent lockers in various hire shops in the chaudanne area of meribel, there used to be one just above jacks bar. there is a pedestrian bridge across the road to get to the lift station from bars/restos, so you could have a cheeky muzig before you get the lift down to brides
