 Poster: A snowHead

Really sad news regarding Ski2, the Champoluc specialists, they have ceased trading after 20 years. A wonderful company, with wonderful staff, and wonderful holidays. We have dealt with them for many years and they really were one of the good guys.
At Snowfinders we are saddened and shocked that we have lost another excellent supplier.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Although I'd never heard of or used them, it's sad to see another ski company bite the dust in these difficult times. They aren't the first to do so since the pandemic started and Brexit related problems on deploying UK employed staff in the EU kicked in, and sadly they won't be the last.

That's sad. And will be a blow to the village. Always seemed well managed, and successful.
But it's a thin margin business.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Very sad. We used them a few years ago: private car from the airport, quality room and food, first class instruction, all for far less than larger operators. My memory is that they acted under the umbrella of a travel agents. Staff were lovely, a mix of Italian and Brit - they did make a selling point of having British ski school and nursery staff though.

I heard once that they would bring 120 anglophone instructors in for the UK half term, although that seems like a huge number! Of course, I guess they wouldn't have had uniforms. So I wouldn't have noticed.

I was sad to read of the demise of Ski2 as I had a brilliant short break with them a few years ago.
The memories include getting locked out of my hotel when I forgot to take a key fob and so having to buy a room in another one to avoid freezing to death.
And some of the most epic off-piste ever. Ending up two valleys away from Champoluc and needing a taxi to get to the lift in Alagna before it closed. Phoning the Ski2 office in resort for a number and a young lady saying "what are you doing in Wold, have you been skiing off-piste?" I was thinking I am definitely going to miss the lift back. Stuck out my thumb as a car went past and they gave me a lift, bless them. Celebrated with lots of grappa that night!
