Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What Level 3 Ski?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there I am starting my journey towards my level 3, and was looking for some advice on suitable skis. There’s loads of stuff out there in suitable skis for L1/2 but I’ve not found anything for level 3. Currently I’m using Head I Magnums 170 (I’m 90kg and 178)
I know the Atomic S9 are well thought of but I’d rather have something a bit wider underfoot for a bit more flexibility. Would the X9 WB be suitable 75mm underfoot? At the end of the day I’ll put personal preference to one side and get the best tool for the job.

Dynastar Speed Master SL or GS depending upon the radius you require. Both mounted with their R22 race plate & SPX 15 bindings (not the Knoect plates or the SPX 12's). I run the Dynastar Pro Deal for the UK/Ireland so if you want a price list PM your email address.

I would agree with Jon, at your weight a stiffer ski like the Dynastar masters would be great and dont cheap out on the bindings and defo get the race plates. His suggestion is spot on.. I would go for the 179 19M radius and possibly the turnier 173 17M. would depend on what your weakest strand is. (go longer if your longs and variables are worse than your shorts/bumps) The master series are great skis but in previous years had too big a side cut for tech exams for the taller heavier guy.

Im a bigger build than you and I have the 185 25 Metre ones for ET training and my favourite exam ski for L3 L4 was the precursor to the master series in a 180 19m radius . SO. SO glad Dynastar has reduced the radius on the GS masters skis as they are now in a sweet spot for instructors exams imo.

Others to consider
Nordica Doberman
Kastle MX 74
Stockli Laser SX

Ive not skied the Atomics you mention but again depends on your strengths / weaknesses.. 75mm should be fine but not sure stiff enough. Good looking spec on those skis...

I skied the SL Dynastars at the ski test last October, and they were amazing, would definitely recommend.
