Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski mojo boot attachment placement advice request

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there,

I have a question and am seeking some advice.

Recently took delivery of a Ski Mojo. My boot cuff has slits in it as provision for a booster strap to be threaded. As a result, the placement of the Ski Mojo boot attachment is on a piece of plastic where on the adjacent sides there is a slit and therefore gap of plastic.

My concern is that the plastic will break in that area when it has force applied from the Ski Mojo. I'm just speculating, though.

Is that something I should be worried about? Or am I just imagining things, perhaps?

Any advice or experience is appreciated.

The picture linked shows the area I'm referring to and the imprint is from the clamp on the area that I propose for drilling.

Welcome to the forum Smile

I can not help, but someone else, with a bit of knowledge, may come along shortly.

I believe the 'originators' of the Ski Mojo are members of this forum.. (@mr mojo and mrs mojo)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I see your problem.

It's hard to see in the image, but is the rivet holding the strap central? My Boots have 2 rivets for the power strap and the lateral (external) one was just the spot for the Ski Mojo boot bracket.

I presume you have tried out the various positions for the bracket with the clamp and tested that they do not force any external/internal rotation of your foot?

Assuming that the best position is as your photo, then I would suggest using a piece of plastic to reinforce the area (just as SkiMojo recommend for snowboard boots) this could be riveted either side of the slits with the SkiMojo bracket fixed in the middle?

Hopefully this gives you some ideas, I'm sure that MrsMojo will be along to give there suggestions.

@chondro, difficult to tell for sure from the image, it does look to be roughly in the right place.... only issue you might have is that you are going though a fairly flimsy bit of that particular boot model, if we get this situation we often use a small aluminium strap to strengthen the mounting area

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Can't it go through the black area above the yellow slotted section... or is that part of the liner, not the shell?
