Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Squaw Valley ski resort will shortly cease to exist; it will be renamed at the end of this season. https://www.squawalpine.com/squaw-valley-name-change

Can't argue with that. Mountain Run sucks and Brokey is never open enough to enable T16 runs.

If anyone cares, their review is reasonably accurate. Tons of steeps, lousy groomers (though Alpine's are ok). Best in spring. They mentioned views of the lake a lot. If that's what you're after, go to Heavenly. There are lots of good views from ski areas, but none better.

As for the name change, 'bout time. I'm interested to see what they come up with. And the gondola connection to Alpine will be great if they ever build it.

I think "Olympic Valley" was one of the popular suggestions.

For sure, and since that is the name of the town (which is not a town at all) at the base, they have something they can point to. Works for me, though I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get "Tahoe" in there for the cachet, like Reno adding it to their airport's name. I've heard over the years that the Olympics people hate anybody using that word, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them bleat/litigate to prevent it. If so, I'll be pulling for the the little guy: Squaw's hedge fund owners!

They don't seem to have been able to stop Olympic Air wink

Good one, maybe them being Greek makes them legit? Very Happy

A quick web search reveals that here the USOC owns the rights to the word "Olympic" and many other related words and phrases. I'm looking at the Olympic Mountains as I type this, and there are other examples as you've noted, so those rights have limits. But I'm guessing naming Squaw with it will be over the line.
