I am considering a place in Morillon for Feb half term. It is walking distance of the main gondola but does anybody know what those gondola queues are like first thing in the morning to get to ski school meets at the top?
Many thanks

I've not the experience of half term there, making this more background information.
It's a reasonable capacity lift (cramming may be different in light of current circumstances) with fair sized cabins. Never seen it as unmanageable que particularly earliest times as more people arrive there throughout the morning from driving and using the carpark across the road. The immediate demand doesn't seem to completely overwhelm the lift capacity though. A lot of demand in the valley heads toward the Samöens gondola, making this one relatively peaceful.
As a location though, we particularly like staying at the top of this gondola in Les Esserts Morillon 1100 having been there many times as a family. It's hugely convenient for getting out onto the snow, great mixed skiing and some of the best mountain lunch places available. One of the most relaxed places to work with a family to ski as it's ultra convenient for the very simple day to day logistics.
Has a nice feeling too with very friendly staff running lifts infrastructure etc, only very good experience for us.
The base village is also good, but doesn't match that step out onto the snow that 1100 can. Is there any availability in 1100 for that time?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I will look a bit harder but struggling to find places that take our numbers (that give me enough bathrooms!). I am looking at either 12 or 15

Ah, yes they are more likely to be up to eight. We've used two apartment before to get enough numbers but there's few larger chalet type there.

Which distracts from the family experience we are hoping for

We’ve done a big family group in our apartment block. Our apartment for 5, a small one for 3 and a big one for 6. Most of the socialising and every dinner in the big one, breakfast in “home” apartment, opportunities to escape if you wanted (needed!) to. Worked very well.

In which case and being pragmatic about the village location, just making sure you are prompt for early time on lift shouldn't really cause problems.
The ski school admins are in the top lift building if needed, with the collection points for lessons about 100 mtrs away from lift exit and downhill too. You just scoot round the outside of the next lift que as meeting point is just the other side of the chair loading area. It's all very easy from a practical point of view.

Sorry, not Morillon, this was in Chatel, but just an example of how it can work by booking a few apartments of different sizes with at least one big one. We had to do two sittings for dinner but there are always some who are starving who want to go first and others happy for another beer on the balcony to go in the second bunch.

My only constraint is 3ish hours of Geneva and big enough to cater for our party, sufficient toilets (via my definition of that!), ideally walking distance of lift but one place I am looking at is Morzine and the hosts are offering shuttle runs to and from lift.
We would prefer catered but buying in catered service is also a possibility

@ NickyJ, it was in the block where we have our apartment, Yeti 6, Petit Chatel.
I’m not sure it would really meet your brief though, 200m to the skibus, 300m to nearest lift (but not the most central or beginner friendly one) and over 1km from village centre. Less than 1h30m from Geneva. Toilet supply you would have to research yourself. Can’t help on catered supply, we have never done it.
I would think most French resorts would have a suitable block in which you could find a few suitable apartments. Key thing is make sure one is a really big one.

Ooh looks nice if it were just 12 of us. Won’t fit our party makeup if the 15 (as really need us, my parents and my sister and partner to have our own rooms), and that would leave 6 kids in the last room which would include then a 15yr old girl and a 13yr old boy who aren’t blood related (the step children), if we gave my sisters friend the room for 3 for her and her two boys). However if she does drop out (would tbh make the search easier!) that looks nice, so I am definitely keeping that link!

You know it makes sense.

They have a annex too which I think is ordinarily self sufficient but may be able to combine, it's an old farm building but only 5 mtrs from entrance and could be worth a call to assess. It's family owned and sole proprietor so they can immediately give you an answer.
