Poster: A snowHead

I changed to shell trousers a few years ago and have had my eye out for a decent pair of mid layer trousers for cold/slow days ever since.
It seems I'm not the only one:

I bought a pair of these from Stellar Equipment before the PSB:

I really like them, do the job well. But they started to pill almost immediately, so after a few weeks skiing I emailed them a photo, and they at once said they'd replace them but unfortunately they were sold out. They offered me a refund if I sent the damaged ones back instead, but rather than be without I asked if they could replace them with the down ones:

They were happy to do this, and best of all didn't require the damaged ones back after all. They are still useable - they just look very odd! The down ones are seriously warm - I suspect I'll get more use out of them at home than skiing, but will be perfect if I'm skiing with learner friends.
Their customer service was top notch and easy.
I know a some Snowheads are using their outerwear too, it'll be interesting to see how it lasts.

If you're having to wear multiple layers on your legs to combat the cold just wear insulated salopettes.

not really how it works if you layer up with a shell outer that is 20k or 30k.
As you can adjust layers depending on the day's likely weather forecast.

Duh. If the day requires 3 layers because you wear shell pants, then put on the insulated ones. It's not rocket science us it ?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Then wear the uninsulated ones.
Does your mother still lay out your clothes?

Stellar... great find.
I am fine with 2XU compression tights + lightweight Patagonia mid-layer under my shells for 70% of days. Some days, I ditch the mid-layer, and on a few days, something warmer would be nice - I do like skiing in storms (good snow and fewer people).
