I noticed the other day some parts of the alps appear to have ski lifts now on google maps if you zoom in far enough

Quite a few have had street err piste view and lifts on maps for a while now (was a thread on it near the start of the season I think).
Sella Ronda was one of the first, and is indeed already wrong (both piste view and lifts), but then the landslide this time last year played a part there. It won't let you submit/suggest map corrections either. Openstreetmap maps have pistes/lifts and are probably more up to date in many cases.

koru, What do you mean by drag and drop the yellow person icon? It does not work for me.
I can only use arrows but this is not that smooth.

Tom W,
The yellow person is only used to 'drop' you into street/piste view -- then it is a case of using the arrows (or mouse cursor) to get you around (and, as you say, not that smoothly !)

Tom W, you can do that in the new google maps by dragging and dropping Pegman (as the little yellow man is called) in the pop-up map in the bottom corner

You know it makes sense.

Doesn't look like the snowmobile can manage black runs. On the resorts I have looked at, there's no piste view for the black runs.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Tom W, You Tube has videos of most runs. But I agree it would be nice if Google Maps would automatically show you a skier's view of the route.

Bumped into the Google Snowmobile back in 2014 on a Grand Montets piste, Chamonix.
Never seen it published anywhere. Anyone know what happened to this project?

There are websites built on top of OpenStreetMap that show pistes, this one seems quite good.

Did speed098 know, in 2014, that we might actually be thinking such things in 2021 ...
