Poster: A snowHead

Hopefully a simple question:
I have a a pair of short skis (127cm) that I need to buy a ski bag for. Whilst some places do a suitable length bag, they are a bit scarce and I was wondering if there was any reason why I shouldn't just buy a normal length bag (160cm say) and just pad out the ends with socks or other bits of kit?
Any advice (apart from "Just buy proper length skis" ) much appreciated.
Cheers,
Ant

No reason, I would have thought, but your bag'll have a floppy bend in it.
oh - and you could just buy proper length skis

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

antpj,
What you can do is get a normal length ski bag, and fold the ends over and do the straps up tight over the ends, then the skis won't slide about. Hope that makes sense!

Decathlon do a special short bag for their special short skis. Cheap, too. I saw them in Albertville, but maybe they have them here too.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for all the advice. I tried Decathlon a few weeks ago, and they didn't have any: "out of season"..

To answer my own question, I ended up getting a bag from Severn Sports: 140cm, designed for kids skis I think.

When I use my streetracers (160cms - too short I know, but sometimes I like to pretend I'm good so I break out the kiddy ski's and leave the Fischers at home) I'll stick them at one end of my ski bag (210cm) and sort of overlap them with my poles so there's a bit of hard ski or pole running along the whole bag, thus solving floppy bag syndrome. Also allows me to pack it out with clothes to cheat on my baggage allowance.
