Wondering how this will effect us, probably too soon to tell

It won't effect us at all, might affect us though.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@WishIWasFitter, at the moment, France, Austria and the UK are categorised as red, Italy and Switzerland as orange. Both categories allow the countries concerned to impose mandatory testing and/or quarantine. This could of course change for better or worse before the season starts and at any point during the season.
It will help as there will now be a unified approach to identifying levels of risks on a regional basis. However there is currently no agreed policy on what to do about tests, quarantine etc which is not helpful.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There will now be a more unified approach, but it may not help! If a majority of Schengen states (including many where skiing/winter tourism is not a priority) feel that a total ban on UK visitors is appropriate, then that might now be applied by all - where previously some individual countries might have been more accommodating.
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

If you drive and there are no more changes, then not at all....IF you manage to get out of the UK!
Yesterday, I drove from France, through Belgioum, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland to get back to France, with a bit of France somwhere in the middle. And there were no restrictions on my movment. Every country has slightly different ways of soing things at filling stations and cafes, but they all work.
The day before I arrive and then left the UK - a horrible mess but I will explain more of then in another thread tomorrow, survice to say it was the worst bit of the trek!

just booked Voss, Norway for skiing in March, and Tremblant, Canada for early April. Sorry I'll miss Strolz's sale next Easter, but the EU is going to miss my usual spend of £5-6K. F8ck you M. Barnier!

Was talking about people expecting to get into Canada this season for skiing earlier today - seems a little optimistic. I assume you noted what the PM said yesterday regarding the US border?
Hopefully everything is better by then somehow, and therefore you are able to make it , but at best I can see at least couple of weeks of quarantine in your future; Quebec is moving towards tighter lockdown right now.

@stuarth, its not about border controls, more about how the EU pressure the UK for Brexit deal.

Not sure getting into Canada in April has all that much to do with Brexit
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Canada is not opening any time soon. Unless there's a vaccine I wouldn't count on an April trip there. Is there even any snow left in Tremblant in April?! Better heading a bit further West to Banff - better ski areas and likely much better conditions.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Meanwhile, the former Uk union has restrictions into Wales. And totally restricted travel in and out of Mancunium and Scousia. The only place that has totally unrestricted travel is Barnard Castle by royal decree from King Cummings.
You know it makes sense.

@stuarth, What did Little Potato have to say about the Donald and their border? (guessing to confirm it isn't going to open anytime soon). Annual trip to BC and AB hanging by a thread (mid-January)

There will be snow in Tremblant in April. But I'm less confident about the Canadian border opening in April.
