that will still have a reasonable stock of touring boots?
My master plan has come a little unstuck. I intend to set off from Mordor on Thursday and had planned to be in Chamonix on Friday in good time to try and buy a pair of touring boots - Scarpa Denali, Garmont or whatever. However, sources close to the Aiguille du midi tell me that touring boots are now as rare as snow in Chamonix after a sell-out season.
Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of a likely alternative somewhere en route? I'm pretty flexible but have already discounted Telemark Pyrenees as being a smidgen too far off course and Switzerland would probably cost me another £40 so I'm not overly keen on that.

Get some Orc Juice - Orcs seem to be able to go for miles without shoes of any kind.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Jonpim, au contraire, I heard that Orcs wore heavy boots with metal bits in/on them.

Well no thanks to Jonpim I've bought a pair of Garmont Adrenalins in Chamonix today. Hope to try them out in Val T next week

I love the title of this thread:
"Are there any shops between Calais and Val Thorens?"
We soon discover the small print - this is not about bakeries or butchers. It's about ski touring shops ..... which could involve a considerable amount of touring ..... via Switzerland???
Always check the small print.

The Abominable snowHead, not necessary, just skirted Geneva and found a shop in Cham with some stock. No animals in there though

I've also found a hotel with free wifi broadband access and a pretty nifty chef. The Florimont if anyone finds that useful
