Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are there any shops between Calais and Val Thorens

that will still have a reasonable stock of touring boots?

My master plan has come a little unstuck. I intend to set off from Mordor on Thursday and had planned to be in Chamonix on Friday in good time to try and buy a pair of touring boots - Scarpa Denali, Garmont or whatever. However, sources close to the Aiguille du midi tell me that touring boots are now as rare as snow in Chamonix after a sell-out season.

Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of a likely alternative somewhere en route? I'm pretty flexible but have already discounted Telemark Pyrenees as being a smidgen too far off course and Switzerland would probably cost me another £40 so I'm not overly keen on that.

Get some Orc Juice - Orcs seem to be able to go for miles without shoes of any kind.

I love the title of this thread:

"Are there any shops between Calais and Val Thorens?"

We soon discover the small print - this is not about bakeries or butchers. It's about ski touring shops ..... which could involve a considerable amount of touring ..... via Switzerland???

Always check the small print.
