Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cancelled ski holidays??

Just had to cancel 3 people from my group for end of january... Then two from my mid January group just dropped out as well.. But while talking to travel agent they were very dispondant.. Receiving cancellations every hour or every day!! Asked us to pay final balance but don't expect to go skiing as flights are already started to be cancelled and we'll get a full refund... If no flights but resorts are open we're now considering driving out for a two week ski trip.. All my groups cancellations were based on having to quarentine on return..

@yorkshirelad, we have a Eurotunnel crossing booked from Folkestone on 22nd December. I had 'booked' our apartment for Christmas and New Year, but have put the dates back on my calendar as available, and we'll take it from there. I am starting to organise things to be able to spend Christmas at home, and we're trying to work out how son no 2 can come home and spend it with us . We're in Durham and he's in Nottingham, so unless restrictions ease, it doesn't look likely unless he isolates at either end. Ironically if we were vacating the country, we could probably meet up.

I am on borderline about cancelling out Christmas week. Really don’t want to and also with it being against FCO advice just not sure we can proceed. I have until 60days before the remainder is due on the accommodations. I am going to be reading in depth about insurance cover we can get!

I have booked for the end of January with peak retreats who appear to have a good cancellation policy, they have my £600 deposit and are offering free cancellation up to six weeks before travel. Hanging on in there. Very Happy

For people that drive to the Alps (to whichever country) from the UK, how on Earth are they meant to keep track of everyone crossing the borders? Who has had tests who hasn’t, who needs what, where have they been? God it surely will be a logistical nightmare. And it changes all the time too.

Driving there must be easier than flying at the moment anyhow.
It’s a question of if it’s worth the stress though bothering at the moment, I love skiing but it’s all the uncertainty that puts me off at the minute.

Crystal :-

We appreciate that the current travel advice to your destination may be causing uncertainty about your upcoming holiday, so we wanted to reassure you about what we're doing to protect you and your ski trip this winter.

If the current Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advice and quarantine requirements for your destination don't change, you can amend for free up until your day of departure. You can either call us to amend or we'll be in touch around two weeks before your departure date to offer a range of flexible options - including amending for free to a different destination or departure date, or cancelling your holiday free of charge for a full cash refund.

If the travel restrictions or quarantine requirements are lifted, your holiday will go ahead as planned.

We'd like to reassure you that, working in partnership with our accommodation providers and ski suppliers, we're focusing on keeping our customers safe and implementing local health and safety regulations

I have just booked with Crystal for Courchevel in early March. (I normally go to Austria at least once a season, but I was put off that by some of the stuff on this forum.) I don't normally book through a TO, but after checking around, Crystal's flexible options look far better than anything I could arrange on my own. I hope so, anyway. We shall see.

I have also booked with Peak retreats and will be hanging on in there too! From what it says on their website (copied and pasted below) if you paid the balance and restrictions etc were still in place at the time of the holiday you would still have option of refund.

"FREE CANCELLATION up to six weeks before your arrival date♦. In this case, that means no cancellation fees, a fully refundable deposit and no questions asked!
LOW DEPOSIT Secure your ski holiday with a reduced £250 deposit per apartment or hotel room (not per person)♦
Additionally, for these bookings, we also pledge the following so that you can book with confidence:

If the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel to France, you can amend* your holiday or cancel free of charge.
If French government restrictions mean that you'd have to quarantine on arrival in France, then you can amend* your holiday or cancel free of charge.
If local restrictions in a resort mean you can't ski, you can amend* your holiday free of charge right up to the day before you are due to start your stay.
If there is a local lockdown where you live in the UK**, then you can amend* your holiday free of charge up to seven days before you are due to start your stay."
