Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kaprun: Gipfel Welt 3000 right at the very top of the resort. Alpine Centre (huge, self service, not bad) and Gletschermuhle restaurant (very good) at the upper station, another eatery at the Langweid mid station. I think there is at least one more, but the ones I have listed are the ones that I have used. Its not a huge hill, and the alpine centre can seat probably ~500 at busy times.

Alpincentre seemed pretty good a few years ago

Langweid mid station restaurant is the Hauslalm. Been a few years since I've been to Kaprun but I've still got very fond memories of the ribs & baked potato they serve there.

@Richyrich, Kaprun is a glacier - there's limited options for building anything which will still be there a few months later. There are a couple of good options, plus the main centres are OK, so it's not something worth worrying about. On a clear day, the Gipfel restaurant is the place to be, with the Alps laid out below you.

In Zell, there are many options and most of them are excellent.

@Richyrich,
A place you have to go is "The Alm Ranch" on the Maiskogel,
Its a rustic barn restaurant and when the sun is shining its great to sit out there.
Its a favourite with my granddaughter, there are piggies, calves, goats , donkeys and a cat.
The Maiskogel is the easy hill at Kaprun, very good for beginners. You can get to the ranch by coming down a little bit from the new lift that comes over from the glacier section.
I've not been on it myself .. but the new lift is amazing according to my kids.

When you go over to Zell there are a couple of good lunch spots, the most interesting is
Pinzgauer Hutte, you ski down a road to it ... then they drag you back to the lift behind a tracked quady thingy.
A bit like water skiing uphill.

Or you can take sandwiches Smile

What @DrLawn said, the best restaurants are not on the glacier! Sonnalm for the view and the kaseknocken (sp) and the Ebenbergalm for the view and the food. Otherwise, Saalbach on the same pass or Hochkonig for the win!
