Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hasn't stopped raining here since late Friday morning. Some torrential. Obviously snow higher but too much cloud to see anything, only 8°C down here. The Veneon below is pretty spectacular atm, wouldn't want to fall in Shocked

was cold here in South Wales this morning.
I briefly considered putting the heating on, then remembered the not until October rule.

@Mr.Egg, And in my bit of South Wales the bird bath hadn't frozen over so no heating on yet. Definitely an autumnal feel though.

@LaForet, How high is that? I had a look at Stubai webcams and the result is very uninspiring. It must be too warm here, we've just had a lot (a LOT) of heavy rain.

Refuge du Palet in Tignes, looks like a decent amount of very temporary snow.

We have a friend who was hoping to climb the Matterhorn this week, they went up the Breithorn as a training exercise a couple of days ago but the Matterhorn attempt is sadly off due to the new snow making it too dangerous.

@Scarlet The snowline on the above photo' this morning was around 2200 but by the afternoon it was a bit lower, around 1900:

and at Savoleyres (2343) just over an hour ago (16:30) the VTT riders were enjoying themselves ...

@LaForet, great pics, can't wait to have conditions like that a bit lower and further west....not that much fell at 2300m in PdS. Would be fun to be out on a MTB, access paths will be kept clear as long as they can into winter so am thinking there will be good exploring to do

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

but a good few cm's at 2300m and lower in August doesn't happen every year, sometimes doesn't happen in a winter month.

We had snow in resort, 1650m, during the afternoon of Bastille Day 3 years ago. It had gone by evening.

It didn't actually snow down that low here last night although I saw some mountain biking videos of friends higher up and there was plenty.

Our glacier yesterday. Summer skiing had only finished on Friday, 2 days early because of the poor weather over the weekend. Hopefully we'll open at Toussaint this year. We haven't the last 2 years because of a lack of snow.

Will be the best snow ever for ski season - which many of us probably won’t be able to make due to Covid and associated restrictions
