Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Finally a crumb of good news: Timberline, a ski area on Mt. Hood near Portland, Oregon USA reopens tomorrow on a reservation-only basis (all reservations for tomorrow are sold out). T-line is an ok local's hill except in summer when locals are joined by racers from all over the globe who come for training (a buddy of mine shared a course with Marc Ghirardelli one day!). I am assuming that their normal M.O. of near year-round operation, which differentiates them from nearly all other ski areas, makes this make sense on the business side. They have chairlifts only, with the various distancing restrictions and limitations on services you'd expect. It's four hours away for me and not very steep, but I might go anyway just to close the books on the season with a better taste in my mouth.
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out, as will be the case with the glacier areas in the Alps.

...also in Oregon, one of the States that seems to be reopening early (or prematurely, if you like), Mt. Bachelor is reopening for a few days...passholders only.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good news.
Mt Baldy (CA) was open to advanced skiers for a couple weeks at the end of Apr and early May.
Chair open now for scenic rides.
The ski world is slowly coming back to life.
