Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recently moved to NZ, living with some friends who’ve never really skied before but are willing to learn.
Im from the UK, 27yo and ski at about an advanced level, happily ski almost anything with snow on it! I’ve got a season pass bought for mt Ruapehu to hopefully use when the corona virus lets us out

Basically I’d be about an advanced skier looking to get more into off piste/backcountry. Have touring bindings, skins and transceiver etc. If no one is that keen I’m happy to hit a few red-black runs with someone over the weekends of the 2020 season

Cheers

If you use FaceBook then find the North Island Backcountry Touring group.
I’d suggest going to Tukino as well as the main Ruapehu fields. NZ clubbies are awesome amd a great way to meet folks. Often more people at them willing to earn their turns so its pretty easy to to find a touring buddy for the day.

Would love to join you myself but I just moved out of NZ a couple of months ago so no chance I’ll be back this season!

Thanks for the heads up, I've applied to join it. Fingers crossed for some snow the next few weeks!
Just need to get myself some new boots as my old ones wouldn't fit in the bag Sad
