In a bad week for the ski industry, it was good to read something positive for a change today

In light of the news that The Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival has been cancelled, there’s now a new winter sports event in the planning at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead during the early autumn.
We are sure the demand for a new and exciting event that engages snowsports consumers before the winter kicks off is out there. But we also believe the costs associated with central London venues are prohibitive for consumer shows in our industry.
Now there’s a brand new show planned that reinvents the old ski show format and brings something fresh and exciting for the industry to engage with. It will be affordable to the trade and consumers alike, enabling brands, tour operators and destinations to exhibit without it breaking the bank and consumers to visit and come away with a great ‘feel good’ factor.
An event run by industry professionals that have lived and breathed skiing and snowboarding for decades in a convenient and reachable outer London location, that has all the natural assets including real snow, parking, great exhibit space, an après bar, beginners skiing, a freestyle park and lots more.
The Goal: to give the consumer an amazing experience, to buy new products for the coming winter, test some of the latest equipment, get a taste of sliding on snow, watch some of the world’s best freestylers, hear from passionate industry professionals about destinations, equipment and ski and snowboard techniques, attend workshops on snow safety and enjoy a great après ski vibe in a place that lives and breathes the sport every day of the year.
Here’s a whole new winter sports event that can bring something totally fresh for us all – we want to kick start next winter season by having real fun and showcasing all the very best things about skiing and snowboarding to both those who travel regularly to the mountains and newcomers alike.
To help make this happen, at this stage we need to know whether you would be committed to joining us at a Brand New Ski Show.

Seriously - they have bot all parking especially if they choose to use any of it as "display" space. And barely much room inside bar the bottom of slope area used for Oktobertest and a couple of kis party/ meeting rooms. Yeah they could do a day or weekend at £30 for 2 hours slopetime and people might partake of other stuff.

@Mike Pow, It all depends what this is being pitched as. If it's rent the facility for a couple of days, sell a strictly limited number of tickets correspondent with slope capacity and have the "show" fitted in around it it could work. If you aspire to get even half the exhibitors of the old ski show ( even as it died on its arris) then HH is a completely unsuitable venue.

I agree with both Dave and Mike here. But the advantage of HH is that it's low-cost, low-risk. In the current environment who is going to put the money down to take a proper venue?
