Poster: A snowHead

Hi, I'm trying to book a last minute ski trip for mid-end March and I'd like to know the best option between Sierra Nevada and Grandvalira?
I'd been looking at Grandvalira, but to be honest, having now glanced at Sierra Nevada it appeals to me more (the ski station, sunshine, surroundings, etc.), although I see that maybe not much fresh snow is expected to fall there this month by comparison, and wind can be an issue.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Was at Sierra Nevada 2 weeks ago and Pas De La Casa 4 weeks ago. Grandvalira wins hands down on pretty much all points. Larger ski area, more varied runs, better town facilities, better lifts, only just! Much more to do off piste. Sierra Nevada was looking pretty green when I left and I see all runs are still open in Grandvlira? Without doubt, GRANDVALIRA has it!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yep, Grandvalira is really good. I was unsure about Andorra but loved it. We stayed in El Tarter. Snowmaking is very good.

Welcome to Snowheads, @lozxo@hotmail.com. But it's only March 1st. Hardly "last minute" even for mid month, let alone the end of the month!

Sierra Nevada is nice for the novelty, surrounding and food. I would never recommend anyone to fly there to ski, unless webcam and forecast look perfect. GV every time.

@lozxo@hotmail.com, I think you will have had a good week there this week with the new snow? How was it? I've just booked another week from the 15th. 2nd visit this year. Hope the snow is still good in a weeks time!

@Old Man Of Lech, I'm going on the 10th-16th! But I believe they've had lots of snow and expecting more throughout this week, which bodes well - I will try to update you before your trip!

@Old Man Of Lech I expect you're aware that Grandvalira has now closed early. I hope that at least means you won't already be on the way... while I'm gutted has cut my trip short, I feel worse for the people that were still arriving yesterday evening.
This was actually my first snow sports trip, got 3 days of snowboarding out of it so I'm happy I got to try it out and grateful for all the recommendations!

Glad you got some snow time@lozxo@hotmail.com, I was due to be flying out in an hour for a two week course. It seems that it was decided to keep the resort open then that was overturned by people higher up the chain.
Now trying to un pick how to get my money back as it wasn't a package holiday but I am starting to count myself very lucky that it wasn't a day later.
Stay safe and have a good trip back home.
