I have always loved St Anton however it looks as though the runs down to the village are going to get even busier!

It will relieve the skiers trying to get on the Gampen who then only go stright over to the Galzig. Also when theres heavey snow the link from Gampen to Galzig is often closed due to avalanche risk so it will allow access direct to ampen for everyone.
The crowds wont be anymore as the town can only accomodate a max of 8-10000 People. To get more people on the hill they would have to build many more Hotels.
Hopefully it will make the Gampen like Rendl i.e very quiet

Oh that's so sweet, sending the old lift off in style like that with a band and everything.
I couldn't imagine the French doing something like that in Val d'Isere or Meribel, or maybe they do?

Slghtly off-topic but I reckon the area where the old railway station and tracks used to be, in front of the health centre, is too big and open and bleak (in the winter at least, I don't know what it is like in summer). It seems to me they should encourage some more building there. What do other people think, and does anyone know what is intended?

The fairly ugly old building (houses the ski school & lift mens accomodations) in front of the Gampenbahn Chair will be demolished this summer. Not sure of what wil replace but I have heard of at least two New Hotels in the future in that area.

I hope after all these modifications St Anton doesn't lose what St Anton is all about and people will still ski down the high street.

The video is remarkable, its hard to imagine the scale of the building, and as the cabins drop over the wheels there will be a real heart in the mouth feeling.

Actually skiing down the fußgängerzone (Pedestrain Zone) is officially illegal. I know people do it but if you run into a local make sure you got good insurance

The main reason I bought a ski helmet was because of St Anton. I'd like to think (kid myself) it was because of the knarly terrain although it's really to protect my brain bucket from the Apres-Ski drunks on the high street who rotate with their skis over their shoulder.

I trust their being careful with the bottom station of the Vallgua cable car, wouldn't want anything to disturb the foundations!

Just to follow up.
St Anton is basically a ghosttown (when you compare it to winter) from the tuesday after Easter (whatever month it falls in) untill the 26th December,the early season weeks are dead & pretty only a few bars are open.

Its coming along nicely isn't it 
I should set up a similar website for our ski tow at Yad Moss.
Could update it regualrly with pictures of, painting the club hut, nailing the fences, filling the fuel tank, greasing the wheels, using the wheelbarrow etc........ Could also add a video of cutting the grass and interviewing several of the 'YadFathers'. It needn't be ironic at all.
