@Old Fartbag,
That's very helpful, many thanks.
As the more observant amongst you may have noticed, I really have no idea what I'm doing regarding arranging our first trip, Val Thorens was recommended to me by a regular skier friend for early season.
There is so much to consider, and so many options!!! |
I have been to the 3V before Christamas when all the links were closed, due to lack of snow. It's possible that the links in EK, bar the lower Tignes resorts, would give more coverage.
That year, we were staying in Courchevel, as my Mother wanted to go to a particular hotel. Crystal bussed us to VT on 2 days (as there was only 1 run open) and Tignes for a third. The snow conditions in Tignes were much better. That was just one year, but bears out what my links said.

@rob@rar, @pam w,
A very good point.
100% for MrsSuffolkski and Suffolkski Jr, most probably for me depending on how the pre-trip lessons shape up between now and then.
All recomendations gratefully received..... |
When choosing a ski school I've usually gone with a couple of requirements: a smallish ski school (I think their quality control is better, with less chance of ending up with a duff instructor); an instructor with English as a first language or perfectly fluent, usually one of the British ski schools. Many of the large, high French ski resorts have ski schools which meet those requirements, although not Val Thorens (as far as I'm aware).

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Congrats on the return.
On the glasses front, what about prescription sunglasses?
An investment that pays off when driving and many other non ski related activities.
