Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sending ski boots on ahead

Has anyone used a delivery outfit to send their ski boots on ahead to a hotel (it would be in Obergurgl), and deliver them to UK afterwards, to make the journey easier?

Why would you do that? Before you do, consider the following:
1. If you use regular post, it often takes longer than it should and sometimes doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it goes via Australia.
2. If you use a courier, it will probably take longer than it should and they may deliver it somewhere else entirely, or not at all, leaving you to collect from somewhere inconvenient when you don’t have transport. DHL, DPD and UPS are usually ok, but add some contingency days (at least 3) into your planning.

Safer to pack in your hand luggage. More convenient to carry in hold luggage.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

And make sure the hotel are happy to accept the boots. When I worked in chalets we had some guests once that sent their skis via courier, somebody had to wait in all day for them, and they didn't show on the day they were supposed to. That meant another day of waiting in, plus the same again when it came for the skis to be collected after the holiday. Not even a word of thank you from the guests...
