Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How much do you pay for lunch on the mountain?

We had lunch the other day in a piste side restaurant that was more or less ski in/ski out in a large French ski resort. This is my wife's meal of lamb chops and chard gratin.

How much do you think it cost?

I would pay about €20 for that sort of thing in the best hut in Flachau...if you could get lamb. But you'd get twice as much

Not lamb, not in the Tirol. It is seriously expensive here. Now, if it was from the bacon/pork/pig knuckle animal, then yes, €15 would buy you a substantial meal.

€30 but agree with NickYoung. As Oz from aufwiedersehn said "A good vet could bring it back to life".

In the Roc des Blanchets in Champigny, that would be the plat du jour at E16. Ohterwise, it depends but no more than E25, surely?!

I should say that that lamb was done perfectly to my wife's and all the others in the party's taste. Burning it would be sacrilege

Rare, yes (apparently the locals don’t like the taste), but if you find Irish lamb in the specials fridge in Lidl, it doesn’t have to be expensive Toofy Grin Also cheaply available in curries.

If I'm feeling flush, then around €15 for a Spinatknödel/Kaspressknödel/Gemusestrudel and a drink. Less flush, then under a tenner for soup, a cob and a drink. Totally broke, then go home and make a butty.

I am guessing it was plat de jour since you mentioned had the same. So 15 euro
Otherwise i would not be surprised if it was nearer 50
Looks perfectly cooked to me.
Lamb cuttlets are not cheap in the shops anyway.

If it was plat du jour then around 15 euro but if that was it (even at plat du jour) it was poor value.

@Bianchigray, In Arc 1600 a burger, chips and beer cost 16 euros

Had 8oz of Chateaubriand flambeed in whiskey in a restaurant for EUR 29 in St Foy last month so I would pay less than that for that size of portion (!) however piste side in Les Arcs I would expect 30 something euros for that.

You said France, so €36.

I can feed myself in Austria for €10, but I don’t normally eat fancy food. That would be more like €20.

Rarely bother with lunch but if I do I’m a cheap skate Toofy Grin so go for something simple bowl of soup or if in Austria definitely a Tyroler grostl mit spiegel and a nice cold beer. So tops would be 15€ including the bevvy.

In the Marmot bar, road level, Tignes le Lac, it was €16 for the burger, and a further €8 for the beer - 2 years ago.

What does that even mean? Lamb chops and cheesy veg, fancy food?

I posted elsewhere that on our boys trip in early Jan I ordered plat du jour in La Datcha (La Giettaz) consisting of steak, sauce, cheesy spuds, salad, baked tomato (basically a full plate of top scran) for about 15 euro (not your bargain 10 euro @Scarlet, wink ). Superbly cooked, tasted fab and really good value.
