Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I need the impossible....

Two of us have a very limited few days during the worst week you could imagine to have a few days on the slopes. We can't change the days, or even the times to depart! However the return could possibly be delayed by a day (this may cause some upset in my mates house Very Happy )

So, the limits:
Can't laeve Southern UK till 3pm on Friday 14th.
Have to be back in Southern UK by Thursday 20th, pref the Wed night.
Has to be cheap as chips Laughing

Travel:
Fly, drive, train, bus. I don't really care how!

Needs:
Somewhere to sleep (just had 4 nights in bunkbeds in an entrance hall in Chatel, so not at all fussy Laughing Laughing )
Snow and pistes.
A bar and some where to eat / cook / shop (not fussy on what the option is!)

So snowheads, please can you recommend any ideas that could possibly work for our really impossible situation?

ps, if your a chalet owner and need an extra pair of hands in return for some accomadtion for those few days...... Puzzled Puzzled Puzzled

UCPA (Action Outdoors) have 4-night short breaks, no instruction, from Sat 15th in Tignes and Val Thorens for £469, which includes accommodation, meals, ski pass, ski hire.

Ryanair is £220 pp return Stansted/Milan.

Apartments are available in Aosta from £220 on Booking.com.

You would also need to hire a car.

However, I'm sure there must also be cheaper options for less common destinations, like Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria or the Czech Republic - though I have no experience of those places.

When you have an itch it's best to scratch it! Very Happy

I think the age limit may be 45 but check. My son just got back from UCPA Tignes yesterday - highly recommended the accommodation - very modern, relatively spacious 4 bed rooms (ie 2 bunks) with basin in the room and shared shower room and separate loo with one other 4 bedded room. Also said the food was good and very plentiful - 3 meals a day (incl hot breakfast), or they will make you a picnic if you don't want to come back to the centre for lunch. For extra cost they will arrange shared transfers from Geneva. Ski hire was in the building, he said the equipment was OK.

Just had a quick look at crystal and inghams, each showed only 2, both of which were over 1k each.

It's the first day of the holidays.

Fly from London to Geneva, then get a bus to somewhere and do a BnB.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm already to old (body, not mind!) for UCPA...

I get the feeling I might just wait till a day or 2 before and see how the mood, available flights etc look. I've serched like mad and yet to find anything that could be described as a bargain. I could save the cash from then and do a week at the begining of April instead, I couldn't afford both!

That's a better option, will be far cheaper per ski/day.
