Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alpe D'Huez Ski Hire recommendation

Hi folks,
which ski hire shops do you recommend in Alpe D'Huez. Skiing there mid-March, and I've not been there before. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any info on the site.....
Cheers

To be honest, unless you are looking for something specialist then I would narrow it down a bit first by the part of the town you are staying in, split roughly into 5 areas old town, new/main town, top of the town near the DMC, Bergers and Eclose because that will save a long hike with them on collection and return. The 2 that I know personally are Rocky Sports in Eclose, (which is owner run but a sport 2000 agency) and Sarenne Sports at the top of the town. I have used others at random in Bergers for kids skis and never had a problem. Skimium (Deccathlon) have at least a couple of outlets and I have heard decent feedback about them for price and service. I am actually amazed that so many ski hire shops can actually make money in one resort and Mid March they will not be that busy. Quite often some good secondhand skis outside a lot of them too if you have your own boots and haggle a bit over the price, folding money usually helps Laughing

Thanks Skitow, We're in the Les Cimes on rue de la Poste - is that the old town. fewer Skihire shops over that way but a couple of decent places near the tourist office by the looks of things.

If experience from VdI is anything to go by, some of those LocationSki are single-person outposts only open morning and evening with no selection other than what you ordered online (and hence best avoided)

Cheers
