Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

"Rossignol's Limited Edition B Squad is the ultimate off piste tool. Only available in 191 cm and weighing in at 4.90 kg, the Squad is designed for strong expert skiers wanting the nec-plus-ultra for skiing fast and furious however steep and deep it becomes. The Squad has a moderate 25 m radius making it faster turning than many other all-out mountain skis.

Built in Rossignol's race workshop, the B Squad has vertical sidewalls and a very slightly upraised straight-cut tail. "

From telemark-pyrenees.

ONLY 191. Those things are like a couple of tankers under your feet. 599 inc vat and salomon s914 Fi20

Fondled a B-Squad with a REVERSE SIDECUT today. Apparently it belongs to Hugo Harrison (who was inside the shop signing autographs)

Arno, Reverse sidecut Puzzled. Does that mean it's wider underfoot than at the tip'n'tail Shocked?

Arno, awesome, similar shape to the Pontoons judging from photos I've seen. How stiff was it?

parlor, the one that was out was delamming/pretty much completely trashed (someone said something about it being the one Hugo Harrison was on when he injured himself) so flexing would have been a bit meaningless. Not seen a pontoon but I understand that they taper more than reverse sidecut - this Squad definitely bulged in the middle

Just got this back from Telemark-pyrenees>

Many thanks for your message. The B-Squads are brand new skis. We mounted the
bindings for a customer who then didn't complete the purchase. Obviously we would
rather sell them as they are than start taking off the bindings and redrilling,
hence the Cinderella deal (if the binding fits...).

Thanks again for your enquiry. I hope this helps, please advise!
All best wishes,

Oh yes. No dates planned yet but oh yes I'm certainly going back Toofy Grin.

comprex, as daily rental/demo ski prices are fairly high (& you still can't guarantee getting the ski you want) I thought I'd take advantage of an end of season bargain. When I add in the bindings cost I'll cover my outlay with just 6-7 days use. Same no brainer as my M:EX's.

I'm pretty pleased with my quiver now (Atomicman should be proud of me Cool) with the added benefit of them all being tuned to 1&3 which saves a lot of hassle.

The SD's don't arrive until tomorrow so I'll hopefully mount them this weekend if I can source/make some 3mm toe binding shims so I can match up the delta angles to my b5's & M:EX's. It'll be interesting to see how the centre mark matches up with my Campbell Balance point.

If I go the DIY route re shims what's the best material to use? I've got some 3mm 'sign making' acrylic knocking around that I was going to use.

I'm also thinking of making a hotbox to give them a good waxing but I'm a bit tight for space. I'm planning on 120F for four hours & I'm just spec'ing up an infra-red heater, fan & thermostat to give a more even & controllable temperature than conventional light bulbs. Have you ever done any 'hotboxing'?

spyderjon, 173cm or 183?

I like HDPE for things like that: doesn't get fragile in the cold, doesn't absorb water. I don't know that I'd worry about the delta so much on this ski, though, as just plain edging prowess.

Is there any way you can mock up about 12-15 mm lift on this ski and just try edging on carpet? To my mind, the 15mm Tyrolia carve plate is just right for this ski, unless it's sole purpose in life is the trees off Gad2.

Not tried home hotboxing yet, but why infrared when you can get constant-wattage heat cables?

comprex, 173cm as I wanted something more manoeuverable, especially for those Gad2 trees that I had so much fun in Toofy Grin. I'm also trying to shed a few, well, a lot of pounds Embarassed. At the price I paid for the 173's I can always trade up in length if needed, especially as I'm still climbing the deep'n'steep learning curve.

I've access to HDPE, thanks for the tip & I'll mock up a 12-15mm lift plate & try it. I not familiar with the Tyrolia carve plate but do you reckon I could re-drill it to take my Axials?

I'll check-out the constant wattage heat cables. I was going to use infrared as we use the units at work (ie cheap to me) & I was thinking of the 0.5kw version. With me being tight for space anything that reduces the box size is good so the CWH cables sound a good option.

Thanks for the hepl.

Back to the B Squad, it seems to be a hell of a ski. I use a DP Pro in 201 and love it for almost everything except really tight spots, and am on my second pair and about to buy a third in a slightly smaller 193 cm. The Rossi is even less forgiving and exceptionally un-versatile. The tail is so stiff that it will keep accelerating out of the turn and will not allow for any compromise in uneven terrain. Leaving the off-piste via bumps is purgatory on the DPs, on the Rossi it will be a case of point down and hang on...

I want a pair!! Shame my boot length is too long!
