Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello,
Has anybody had his/her torn ACL repaired by Ligamys method? Can you share your post op/rehab experience?
Ligamys is Internal Brace/BEAR- like ACL repair surgery (a substitute to more common reconstruction surgery) which has been around for about 10 years and done mostly in Switzerland and Germany.

The dynamic stabilisation with this device is a novel idea. There have been some studies showing that it can have a low failure rate. However there aren’t gold standard comparative studies with more established techniques.
One large study had rather worrying rates of stiffness of the knee. They also reported a very high number required eventual removal of the device .
The Bear technique is trying to plug the gap at the rupture and encourage new ligament to grow into the gap. This technique is being very thoroughly investigated in Boston and not on general release the last time I looked.
Repairing midsubstance ACL rupture ( as opposed to when the ligament just pulls cleanly off the bone) is still at the experimental end of the market

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thank you for your detailed answer Dr Bell.
I had the surgery done after my orthopedic doctor and surgeon said rupture was cleanly off the femur. Just like the case you wrote above.
However reading your comment, it looks like I am at elevated risk of stiff knee. Can you please share a link to that study?
